These are both smaller facts that ignore a bigger picture. The battle of Caldari Prime was initiated by The State, none of those situations would've occurred in the first place had the State stayed in their own little block of space. You're right, I do but it seems obvious that to bring down a calculating machine like the Caldari, who care more for numbers, money and...A piece of land than for life...That some blood has to be shed. At least for a time. Protecting peace by preparing for war, rather poetic, that.
I suppose you haven't heard about the state of the Intaki, or about the origins of the Caldari for that matter? Caldari used to be part of the Gallente Federation, that's why their homeworld Caldari Prime is in Gallente territory. Centuries ago, Caldari wanted to secede from the union, the Federation disagreed and a war began because of it. In the end Caldari won and succesfully seceded from the union, although it had to be done by violence and unnecessary bloodshed that could have been avoided by the Federation. At the time, a few Intaki also showed support towards the Caldari, and they were quickly deported from Federation territory, from this group of Intaki eventually formed Mordu's legion.
And right now, the Intaki homeworld and the systems surrounding it are in lowsec space, completely at the mercy of pirates and militia as CONCORD and the Federal Defense Union has completely abandoned them, leaving many of the Intaki planets low on food, water and other necessary supplies.
And while it's true that the State(or Heth more accurately) initiated the battle for Caldari Prime, the Federation didn't even want to try negotiating a truce or a cease fire, but instead went on a full-on assault to destroy the Shiigeru, risking billions of lives on the ground. It was only because of the actions of Admiral Yanala, a Caldari officer, the Shiigeru didn't fire her doomsday weapon and she tried her best to minimize casualties once she realized that crash landing was inevitable.
But touching on the original topic, Yun summed it up quite well. They have believed in independence ever since they seceded from the Federation, and having a foreign power's god ruling them would be really rude. Beklaand Amarr... |
